Description
In this black and white photo two wild horses are seen feeding on marsh grass on the tidal flats of a North Carolina barrier island. The wild ponies of the Outer Banks are known world wide. Herds of these animals once roamed all the barrier islands along the NC coast as well as on the mainline. Today the wild herds can only be found in a few locations including the Cape Lookout National Seashore's Shackleford Banks.
