Live Oak trees, with their curving and twisted limbs are somewhat symbolic of the Deep South in the United States. Inside the boundaries of Hammocks Beach State Park there is a lovely clearing that is home to a grove of these picturesque old oaks. In this black and white image the viewer looks across the clearing, beneath a large overhanging limb, to view some of the trees on the other side of the grove.. In this black and white image the viewer looks across the clearing, beneath a large overhanging limb, to view some of the trees on the other side of the grove. As an adult my activities have included hiking, kayaking, spelunking, wreck and cave diving and other adventurous outdoor experiences. I always feel drawn to see what lies down that old dirt road, hides behind the next hill, or awaits further down the river. It's been said I suffer severely from the Star Trek syndrome: "To boldly go..." My photography is simply an extension of my thirst for knowledge, desire...

In addition to the banner, I am adding this more permanent recognition of its FEATURE on the homepage of A TREE OR TREES IN BLACK AND WHITE. I try mightily to feature only images that would be at home in a juried competition. No doubt that this image fits that bill. CONGRATULATIONS! And consider adding your image to DISCUSSIONS "Please post your featured photograph here" for greater, long-lasting visibility.
