Artist's Description

The remains of an old saw mill that hasn't operated in twenty or more years. Located in Carteret county North Carolina in an unincoroperated coummunity known as Mill Creek. As can be seen the building is in poor repair and slowly being reclaied by nature. A similar mill is still in operation a few miles north of this location. Such industrries were once fairly common in eastern NC.

I've always been a bit of an adventurer as well as being fascinated by the art and craft of photography. As a boy my folk hero was Daniel Boone. When on family camping trips I'd often go hiking where I'd allow my young imagination to run crazy with images of being an early colonial explorer blazing the way into the unknown wilderness. As an adult my activities have included hiking, kayaking, spelunking, wreck and cave diving and other adventurous outdoor experiences. I always feel drawn to see what lies down that old dirt road, hides behind the next hill, or awaits further down the river. It's been said I suffer severely from the Star Trek syndrome: "To boldly go..." My photography is simply an extension of my thirst for knowledge, desire...
