Description
An overcast sky obscures the sunset on an unseasonally warm winter evening at the Oceanana Fishing PIer, Atlantic Beach, North Carolina. In the summer months the structure would be full of fishermen hoping to catch a nice fish from the Atlantic Ocean.
The pier is one of the landmarks of the beach community and, perhaps more importantly, of the Crystal Coast. Today only two commercial piers remain along this stretch of beach. At one time there were several more along this barrier island, Bogue Banks. Also known as the Southern Outer Banks, the area is a popular vacation location.
