A dead Oak tree still stands and is covered with vines. Standing along a horse back ridding trail in the Croatan National Forest, I hiked this train as an alternate route to reach the Neuse River. The near-by Pine Cliffs recreation area has been closed sine hurricane Florence struck NC over two years ago. the NFS has stated that it may be another two years before access to the recreation area is again open.
I've always been a bit of an adventurer as well as being fascinated by the art and craft of photography. As a boy my folk hero was Daniel Boone. When on family camping trips I'd often go hiking where I'd allow my young imagination to run crazy with images of being an early colonial explorer blazing the way into the unknown wilderness. As an adult my activities have included hiking, kayaking, spelunking, wreck and cave diving and other adventurous outdoor experiences. I always feel drawn to see what lies down that old dirt road, hides behind the next hill, or awaits further down the river. It's been said I suffer severely from the Star Trek syndrome: "To boldly go..." My photography is simply an extension of my thirst for knowledge, desire...
