A view along one of several bridges crossing creeks and wetlands in the Cedar Point Recreation Area of the Croatan National Forest. The setting sun add a splash of warm color to the scene. Located near Cape Carteret and Swansboro North Carolina, this popular hiking trail crosses several creeks and marsh areas, parallels the White Oak River for a short piece, then leads through a forested area before looping back to the parking lot. The site includes a modern campground and a small boat ramp. This recreation area is a short drive from the Crystal Coast beach town of Emerald Isle.
I've always been a bit of an adventurer as well as being fascinated by the art and craft of photography. As a boy my folk hero was Daniel Boone. When on family camping trips I'd often go hiking where I'd allow my young imagination to run crazy with images of being an early colonial explorer blazing the way into the unknown wilderness. As an adult my activities have included hiking, kayaking, spelunking, wreck and cave diving and other adventurous outdoor experiences. I always feel drawn to see what lies down that old dirt road, hides behind the next hill, or awaits further down the river. It's been said I suffer severely from the Star Trek syndrome: "To boldly go..." My photography is simply an extension of my thirst for knowledge, desire...
