Visited Topsail Island along the North Carolina coast. The forecast called for clearing skies in the afternoon. The skies did finally clear, but not to almost evening. This image was made in the early afternoon while there was still a bit of a drizzle coming down. I'm not familiar enough with this area to know how long this old dock has be left abandoned but thought it made a nice photographic subject.
I've always been a bit of an adventurer as well as being fascinated by the art and craft of photography. As a boy my folk hero was Daniel Boone. When on family camping trips I'd often go hiking where I'd allow my young imagination to run crazy with images of being an early colonial explorer blazing the way into the unknown wilderness. As an adult my activities have included hiking, kayaking, spelunking, wreck and cave diving and other adventurous outdoor experiences. I always feel drawn to see what lies down that old dirt road, hides behind the next hill, or awaits further down the river. It's been said I suffer severely from the Star Trek syndrome: "To boldly go..." My photography is simply an extension of my thirst for knowledge, desire...
