One of the beach access points near the bath house at Fort Macon State Park is bathed by the golden sunlight of the setting sun. Even though it is eary October, a weekday and that the tourist season is over, the footprints in the sand attest to it still being well used.
The park is located on the barrier island named Bogue Banks in the coummuity of Atlantic Beach, North Carolina. This popular recreation area features a swimming area, a Civil War erea Fort and three hiking trails. Though relatively small, it iw one of the most popular state parks in NC.
I've always been a bit of an adventurer as well as being fascinated by the art and craft of photography. As a boy my folk hero was Daniel Boone. When on family camping trips I'd often go hiking where I'd allow my young imagination to run crazy with images of being an early colonial explorer blazing the way into the unknown wilderness. As an adult my activities have included hiking, kayaking, spelunking, wreck and cave diving and other adventurous outdoor experiences. I always feel drawn to see what lies down that old dirt road, hides behind the next hill, or awaits further down the river. It's been said I suffer severely from the Star Trek syndrome: "To boldly go..." My photography is simply an extension of my thirst for knowledge, desire...
