Artist's Description
A band of wild horses run along the dune line in front of the tidal flats on a barrier island along the Carolina coast. When European explorers first smashed into the New World they brought horses along with them. When returning home they would often leave the animals behind, stranding them on barrier islands along the east coast. Today several herds of wild horses still exist on these islands.
About Bob Decker
I've always been a bit of an adventurer as well as being fascinated by the art and craft of photography. As a boy my folk hero was Daniel Boone. When on family camping trips I'd often go hiking where I'd allow my young imagination to run crazy with images of being an early colonial explorer blazing the way into the unknown wilderness. As an adult my activities have included hiking, kayaking, spelunking, wreck and cave diving and other adventurous outdoor experiences. I always feel drawn to see what lies down that old dirt road, hides behind the next hill, or awaits further down the river. It's been said I suffer severely from the Star Trek syndrome: "To boldly go..." My photography is simply an extension of my thirst for knowledge, desire...
