Ferns. Lush and green. They dominate the floor of the forests of eastern North Carolina. This color photo was made along one of the hiking trails in the New Bern Civil War Battlefield Park.
I've always been a bit of an adventurer as well as being fascinated by the art and craft of photography. As a boy my folk hero was Daniel Boone. When on family camping trips I'd often go hiking where I'd allow my young imagination to run crazy with images of being an early colonial explorer blazing the way into the unknown wilderness. As an adult my activities have included hiking, kayaking, spelunking, wreck and cave diving and other adventurous outdoor experiences.
