An old cypress tree stump along Island Creek in the Croatan National Forest is covered with plant growth.. Across the stream a lush, green forest is seen. The woodlands is refected in the smooth, mirror like water of the small brook.This scene is found along the Island Creek Walk, a hiking trail located between New Bern and Pollocksville, North Carolina.
I've always been a bit of an adventurer as well as being fascinated by the art and craft of photography. As a boy my folk hero was Daniel Boone. When on family camping trips I'd often go hiking where I'd allow my young imagination to run crazy with images of being an early colonial explorer blazing the way into the unknown wilderness. As an adult my activities have included hiking, kayaking, spelunking, wreck and cave diving and other adventurous outdoor experiences. I always feel drawn to see what lies down that old dirt road, hides behind the next hill, or awaits further down the river. It's been said I suffer severely from the Star Trek syndrome: "To boldly go..." My photography is simply an extension of my thirst for knowledge, desire...
