Artist's Description
A rustic old barn is near collapse. Beneath the sagging roof sits an old, deteriorated Internationa Scout 4x4 vehicle. A pile of junk is sprawled across the ground in front of the old car.
This black and white photograph was made the last day of March, 2021 along a backroad in Pamlico County, North Carolina. I can't help but wonder what happened for this rusty old SUV to be abandoned. Obviously someone was quite fond of Scouts as I spotte three abandoned on the propety. Part of the fun of discovering and photography old buildingls is pondering the mystery of how they came to this state of rural decay.
About Bob Decker
I've always been a bit of an adventurer as well as being fascinated by the art and craft of photography. As a boy my folk hero was Daniel Boone. When on family camping trips I'd often go hiking where I'd allow my young imagination to run crazy with images of being an early colonial explorer blazing the way into the unknown wilderness. As an adult my activities have included hiking, kayaking, spelunking, wreck and cave diving and other adventurous outdoor experiences. I always feel drawn to see what lies down that old dirt road, hides behind the next hill, or awaits further down the river. It's been said I suffer severely from the Star Trek syndrome: "To boldly go..." My photography is simply an extension of my thirst for knowledge, desire...
