Artist's Description
A beach house sits atop a sand dune overlooking the Point at Emerald Isle, North Carolina. A setting sun colors the sky with shades of violet and orange. Part of the Crystal Coast homes along this stretch of beach were once threatened by encroaching water due to beach errosion. Beach restoration projects have increased the beach to over 1000 yard from the end of the road, providing protection to the area houses and cottages. The expansion of this area has also resulted in the creation of a prime area for water bird nesting and foraging. Popular with all kinds of beach and nature lovers, the only public parking area is frequently full.
About Bob Decker
I've always been a bit of an adventurer as well as being fascinated by the art and craft of photography. As a boy my folk hero was Daniel Boone. When on family camping trips I'd often go hiking where I'd allow my young imagination to run crazy with images of being an early colonial explorer blazing the way into the unknown wilderness. As an adult my activities have included hiking, kayaking, spelunking, wreck and cave diving and other adventurous outdoor experiences. I always feel drawn to see what lies down that old dirt road, hides behind the next hill, or awaits further down the river. It's been said I suffer severely from the Star Trek syndrome: "To boldly go..." My photography is simply an extension of my thirst for knowledge, desire...
