A splash of autumn color spotted just off of the trail at the Latham-Woodhurst Nature Trail in Craven county North Carolina. The orange foliage really stood out, surrounded by green leaves and bare limbs. The main trail leads to an overlook along a creek and estuarine area. Side trail loop on and off the main path. Bences throughout the park offer many opportunities to just sit, reflect and observe nature. This is a place of tranquility where one can feel closer to nature.
I've always been a bit of an adventurer as well as being fascinated by the art and craft of photography. As a boy my folk hero was Daniel Boone. When on family camping trips I'd often go hiking where I'd allow my young imagination to run crazy with images of being an early colonial explorer blazing the way into the unknown wilderness. As an adult my activities have included hiking, kayaking, spelunking, wreck and cave diving and other adventurous outdoor experiences. I always feel drawn to see what lies down that old dirt road, hides behind the next hill, or awaits further down the river. It's been said I suffer severely from the Star Trek syndrome: "To boldly go..." My photography is simply an extension of my thirst for knowledge, desire...
