Two wild mustangs battle on the tidal flats of North Carolina. Spanish Colonial Mustangs have made their home on the barrier islands of the NC coast for nearly 500 years. Today the wild herds are limited to only a few locations including Shakleford Banks in the Cape Lookout National Seashore, the Rachel Carson Estuarine Reserve, Oakracoke Island and Corolla North Carolina.

I've always been a bit of an adventurer as well as being fascinated by the art and craft of photography. As a boy my folk hero was Daniel Boone. When on family camping trips I'd often go hiking where I'd allow my young imagination to run crazy with images of being an early colonial explorer blazing the way into the unknown wilderness. As an adult my activities have included hiking, kayaking, spelunking, wreck and cave diving and other adventurous outdoor experiences. I always feel drawn to see what lies down that old dirt road, hides behind the next hill, or awaits further down the river. It's been said I suffer severely from the Star Trek syndrome: "To boldly go..." My photography is simply an extension of my thirst for knowledge, desire...
