The bright yellow bloom of wild lettuce dominates the frontal right hand side of this image. Behind the bloom is a view of a slightly out of focus flower bud, The background is creamy smooth. This wildflower resembles a dandelion but is an entirely different plant. The image was made on the Core Sound Heritage Museum property, adjacent to the Cape Lookout National Seashore Visitors Center.
I've always been a bit of an adventurer as well as being fascinated by the art and craft of photography. As a boy my folk hero was Daniel Boone. When on family camping trips I'd often go hiking where I'd allow my young imagination to run crazy with images of being an early colonial explorer blazing the way into the unknown wilderness. As an adult my activities have included hiking, kayaking, spelunking, wreck and cave diving and other adventurous outdoor experiences. I always feel drawn to see what lies down that old dirt road, hides behind the next hill, or awaits further down the river. It's been said I suffer severely from the Star Trek syndrome: "To boldly go..." My photography is simply an extension of my thirst for knowledge, desire...
