The sun sets over Bogue Sound creating a dramatic sky. The view is from the Point at Emerald Isle, North Carolina. Beautiful sunsets like this are common along the Crystal Coast. The clouds seem to radiate from the glowing light of the sun. The sky is painted with hues of orange, yellow, blue, and magenta. Mother Nature has used her brush to paint a beautiful scene above the salty water of the inlet.
I've always been a bit of an adventurer as well as being fascinated by the art and craft of photography. As a boy my folk hero was Daniel Boone. When on family camping trips I'd often go hiking where I'd allow my young imagination to run crazy with images of being an early colonial explorer blazing the way into the unknown wilderness. As an adult my activities have included hiking, kayaking, spelunking, wreck and cave diving and other adventurous outdoor experiences. I always feel drawn to see what lies down that old dirt road, hides behind the next hill, or awaits further down the river. It's been said I suffer severely from the Star Trek syndrome: "To boldly go..." My photography is simply an extension of my thirst for knowledge, desire...
