An old metal tobacco barn stands along a rural Onslow County, North Carolina road. While its seen better days, it's still erect though with an obvious lean. Its metal siding and roof are stained with rust. A tall pine tree grows next to it. The rusted, busted old barn remains as a testament to simpler times long past. Once common throughout the South, these old farm buildings are quickly disappearing from the rural southern landscape.
I've always been a bit of an adventurer as well as being fascinated by the art and craft of photography. As a boy my folk hero was Daniel Boone. When on family camping trips I'd often go hiking where I'd allow my young imagination to run crazy with images of being an early colonial explorer blazing the way into the unknown wilderness. As an adult my activities have included hiking, kayaking, spelunking, wreck and cave diving and other adventurous outdoor experiences. I always feel drawn to see what lies down that old dirt road, hides behind the next hill, or awaits further down the river. It's been said I suffer severely from the Star Trek syndrome: "To boldly go..." My photography is simply an extension of my thirst for knowledge, desire...
