I enjoy exploring backroads in areas I haven't visited before in search of interesting scenes to photographs Some of my favorite subjects include old, decaying farm buildings and interesting trees. On this morning I scored a two in one opportunity. I recently came across this gem on a backroad near Trenton, North Carolina.
An old farming shed, possibly from the 40s or 50s, is decaying and being overtaken by native plants. Next to its rear a large tree towers above it. Behind it can be seen a tree line and a blue sky filled with fluffy white clouds. This color photograph stirs up feelings of rural life and vintage Americana.
I've always been a bit of an adventurer as well as being fascinated by the art and craft of photography. As a boy my folk hero was Daniel Boone. When on family camping trips I'd often go hiking where I'd allow my young imagination to run crazy with images of being an early colonial explorer blazing the way into the unknown wilderness. As an adult my activities have included hiking, kayaking, spelunking, wreck and cave diving and other adventurous outdoor experiences. I always feel drawn to see what lies down that old dirt road, hides behind the next hill, or awaits further down the river. It's been said I suffer severely from the Star Trek syndrome: "To boldly go..." My photography is simply an extension of my thirst for knowledge, desire...
