A well worn path curves into the forest beckoning the hiker to explore the adventure ahead. This color photograph was made in the Lathan-Whitehurst Nature Park near New Bern, North Carolina on pleasant Mid-January day. This lovely little recreation area includes several well maintained trails as well as a boardwalk leading to a raise overlook providing a nice view of Broad Creek.

I've always been a bit of an adventurer as well as being fascinated by the art and craft of photography. As a boy my folk hero was Daniel Boone. When on family camping trips I'd often go hiking where I'd allow my young imagination to run crazy with images of being an early colonial explorer blazing the way into the unknown wilderness. As an adult my activities have included hiking, kayaking, spelunking, wreck and cave diving and other adventurous outdoor experiences. I always feel drawn to see what lies down that old dirt road, hides behind the next hill, or awaits further down the river. It's been said I suffer severely from the Star Trek syndrome: "To boldly go..." My photography is simply an extension of my thirst for knowledge, desire...
