Description
A stunted Live Oak tree in the dune zone has been sculpted by the prevailing winds at Cedar Island Beach in eastern North Carolina. Located on the eastern tip of the Crystal Coast, this private beach is owned by the Cedar Island Ranch. The public is allowed to explore this pristine, undeveloped beach. The ranch offers camping and guided horseback riding. Wild horses and feral cows can sometimes be observed along this beautiful stretch of sand. Other popular activities include sunbathing, beach combing, fishing , bird watching and windsurfing. This is downeast North Carolina at its finest.

In addition to the banner, I am adding this more permanent recognition of its FEATURE on the homepage of A TREE OR TREES IN BLACK AND WHITE. I try mightily to feature only images that would be at home in a juried competition. No doubt that this image fits that bill. CONGRATULATIONS! And consider adding your image to DISCUSSIONS "Please post your featured photograph here" for greater, long-lasting visibility.
