Description
A Willet, Tringa semipalmata, hunts the mudflats in the Cedar Point Recreation Area near Cape Carteret North Carolina. These common wading birds feed on various saltwater invertabraes found along mudflats, in estuaries and along coastal beaches.
The mudflat, covered with a thin layer of saltwater, creates a higly reflective surface. In this image the birds reflection can be seen below it. The mirror like surface is colored by the Carolina blue sky above.
