Description
Carrot Island is one of several small island and marsh areas located in the Rachel Carson Estuarine Reserve. Located across Taylor's Creek from Beaufort, shis protected area is known for wild horses and a diverse bird population.
In this color photo a wild pony feeds in the marsh. Making a life on these sparse islands is tough and the hourses spend about 90% of their time feeding. For wildlife photographers this fact can be a bit challenging. AFter all, most would prefer a photo of one of these animals ith its head up.
