Description
A Great Egret settles in as evening comes calling. These beautiful white shore birds were nearly hunted to extinction for their feathers. This is the Willow Pond on the Core Sound Waterfowl Museum property at Harkers Island, North Carolina. The museum celebrates the history of waterfowling and decoy carving on the island as well as the history of the community.. It is one of three such facilities along the Crystal Coast. The others are the Maritime Museum in Beaufort and the History Place in Morehead City..
