Description
A Tricolor Heron, Egretta tricolor, spreads its wing while fishing along the beach a Cedar Island, North Carolina. This bird was working tidal pools, moveing from pool to pool in search for breakast. Once known as the Louisiana Heron, this smallish member of the egret family feature blue-grey body, white bellies with lavender accents. A white stripe runs down their long, thin necs. When foraging for small fish they may move quickly, making fast turns and abrupt stops almost giving the impression that they are dancing.
