Trees are shrouded by a heavy fog along the banks of the mighty Neuse River in eastern North Carolina near the community of Oriental. Found in Pamlico county, NC, this area features a narrow, sandy beach lined with both live and dead trees. At the front of the iage is a large pine tree. Hardwood trees are seen behind it with hints of the skeletons of dead trees in the foggy background.
I've always been a bit of an adventurer as well as being fascinated by the art and craft of photography. As a boy my folk hero was Daniel Boone. When on family camping trips I'd often go hiking where I'd allow my young imagination to run crazy with images of being an early colonial explorer blazing the way into the unknown wilderness. As an adult my activities have included hiking, kayaking, spelunking, wreck and cave diving and other adventurous outdoor experiences. I always feel drawn to see what lies down that old dirt road, hides behind the next hill, or awaits further down the river. It's been said I suffer severely from the Star Trek syndrome: "To boldly go..." My photography is simply an extension of my thirst for knowledge, desire...
