Artist's Description
The shrimp boat "Blackbeard" enters Beaufort Inlet after a day of fishing. Commercial fishing was once the primary industry for residents of the Crystal Coast. More recently tourism and the service industries are likely bigger. Still, the watermen of Carteret county play an important roll by providing seafood to locals and distant markets as well.
This is the view from Fort Macon State Park, Atlantic Beach, North Carolina. The park features a mile and a half of undeveloped beach. It is a perfect place for beach combing, shore brid watching and surf fishing. It also contains the Elliot Coues Nature trail which passes through maritime forest, past salt marsh and over the dune zone which provides views of the ocean and beach.
About Bob Decker
