Artist's Description
In this color photo the Milkyway is seen behind a lone tree silhouetted against the night sky. The planets Jupiter and Saturn appear as bright stars to the left and slightly above the tree. This image was made on a warm, clear July evening near the Cape Lookout National Seashore visitors center on Harkers Island, NC.
About Bob Decker
I've always been a bit of an adventurer as well as being fascinated by the art and craft of photography. As a boy my folk hero was Daniel Boone. When on family camping trips I'd often go hiking where I'd allow my young imagination to run crazy with images of being an early colonial explorer blazing the way into the unknown wilderness. As an adult my activities have included hiking, kayaking, spelunking, wreck and cave diving and other adventurous outdoor experiences. I always feel drawn to see what lies down that old dirt road, hides behind the next hill, or awaits further down the river. It's been said I suffer severely from the Star Trek syndrome: "To boldly go..." My photography is simply an extension of my thirst for knowledge, desire...
