Artist's Description
As the third oldest town in North Carolina it's not surprising that there are many historic homes to be found in this old seaport village. Known as Beaufort by the Sea by vactioners and the Beau Zone by locals, has been home to Patriots, Privateers, Sailors, Priates, honest men and scoundrals. PIctured here is the Dice House, built in 1895.
About Bob Decker
I've always been a bit of an adventurer as well as being fascinated by the art and craft of photography. As a boy my folk hero was Daniel Boone. When on family camping trips I'd often go hiking where I'd allow my young imagination to run crazy with images of being an early colonial explorer blazing the way into the unknown wilderness. As an adult my activities have included hiking, kayaking, spelunking, wreck and cave diving and other adventurous outdoor experiences. I always feel drawn to see what lies down that old dirt road, hides behind the next hill, or awaits further down the river. It's been said I suffer severely from the Star Trek syndrome: "To boldly go..." My photography is simply an extension of my thirst for knowledge, desire...
