A view of the Oceanana Fishing pier along Atlantic Beach on the North Carolina coast. As the sun set the pier is reflected on the mirror like wet sand. The Oceanana is the last of three of these structures that once lined this stretch of coastline. The Triple S and the Sportsman were damaged by hurricanes and eventually demolished to be replaces with beach homes.

I've always been a bit of an adventurer as well as being fascinated by the art and craft of photography. As a boy my folk hero was Daniel Boone. When on family camping trips I'd often go hiking where I'd allow my young imagination to run crazy with images of being an early colonial explorer blazing the way into the unknown wilderness. As an adult my activities have included hiking, kayaking, spelunking, wreck and cave diving and other adventurous outdoor experiences. I always feel drawn to see what lies down that old dirt road, hides behind the next hill, or awaits further down the river. It's been said I suffer severely from the Star Trek syndrome: "To boldly go..." My photography is simply an extension of my thirst for knowledge, desire...
