I first visited the Point several years ago. At that time the channel that makes up Bogue Inlet was encroaching on this area and nearby beach houses. Honestly, I was unimpressed as there just really wan't much there. Thanks to beach nourishment projects and a relocation of the channel by te town of Emearald Isle North Carolina, my recent visit was a much different experience. There is now hundreds of yards of pristine beach and beautiful sand dunes
The Point is located at the southwest end of Bogue Banks, one of the many barrier islands along the NC Crystal Coast, also known as the Southern Outer Banks. This is a popular location for nature lovers, shell collectors and surffishermen. On this late Spring evening rather than fiery shades of orange and reds nature painted the clouds in hues of pint and violet.
I've always been a bit of an adventurer as well as being fascinated by the art and craft of photography. As a boy my folk hero was Daniel Boone. When on family camping trips I'd often go hiking where I'd allow my young imagination to run crazy with images of being an early colonial explorer blazing the way into the unknown wilderness. As an adult my activities have included hiking, kayaking, spelunking, wreck and cave diving and other adventurous outdoor experiences. I always feel drawn to see what lies down that old dirt road, hides behind the next hill, or awaits further down the river. It's been said I suffer severely from the Star Trek syndrome: "To boldly go..." My photography is simply an extension of my thirst for knowledge, desire...
