The sunsets on the beach along the North Carolina barrier island of Bogue Banks. A sandy path leads through the sand dunes to the Atlantic Ocean at this Salter Path public access area. The setting sun throws a warm light on the marsh grass. The sea can be seen beyond the dune. Colorful clouds are seen overhead.

Salter Path is one of many beach communities that make up the Crystal Coast. Roughly mid-way along the island, the small town is a favorite with vacationers. This village presents a more laid back atmosphere than the larger towns of Atlantic Beach and Emeral Isle, NC.

I've always been a bit of an adventurer as well as being fascinated by the art and craft of photography. As a boy my folk hero was Daniel Boone. When on family camping trips I'd often go hiking where I'd allow my young imagination to run crazy with images of being an early colonial explorer blazing the way into the unknown wilderness. As an adult my activities have included hiking, kayaking, spelunking, wreck and cave diving and other adventurous outdoor experiences. I always feel drawn to see what lies down that old dirt road, hides behind the next hill, or awaits further down the river. It's been said I suffer severely from the Star Trek syndrome: "To boldly go..." My photography is simply an extension of my thirst for knowledge, desire...
