A Mallard duck stretches its wings on the Neuse River in Eastern North Carolina near the city of New Bern. This lovely drake is in an upright position with the wings reaching out in front. The feathers create an interesting pattern and feather detail is easily seen, Primary colors found in the photograph are green, blue, brown and white.
I've always been a bit of an adventurer as well as being fascinated by the art and craft of photography. As a boy my folk hero was Daniel Boone. When on family camping trips I'd often go hiking where I'd allow my young imagination to run crazy with images of being an early colonial explorer blazing the way into the unknown wilderness. As an adult my activities have included hiking, kayaking, spelunking, wreck and cave diving and other adventurous outdoor experiences. I always feel drawn to see what lies down that old dirt road, hides behind the next hill, or awaits further down the river. It's been said I suffer severely from the Star Trek syndrome: "To boldly go..." My photography is simply an extension of my thirst for knowledge, desire...
