Description
Not so many years ago tobacco was one of the main money crops grown in North Carolina and other southern states. With the decline in popularity for tobacco use due to health risks, the drying barns used to prepair the golden leaves for market are getting harder and harder to find. Some are repurposed, others torn down, still others left to decay over time.
This old barn, located near Bettie North Carolina along the Crystal Coast, is showing the deterioration of abandonment. Black and whtie was chosen for this image as a lot of the interest lies in the variety of textures and tones. Monochrome also seems fitting for old, abandoned and overgrown homes. Though showing the wear and tear of time, this old building still has a lot of character.
