Description
The Old Burying Ground is located in the Historic District of the Beaufort, North Carolina. In this cemetary, established in the early 1700s, lie the remains of colonists, sailors and soldiers. As stone markers would have had to been brought to the small seaport town by wooden ship many graves are marked by wooden slabs, shells or brick.
