Artist's Description
I headed over the Atlantic Beach, NC one evening with the goal of shooting the lovely Autumn sunset. While my original plan didn't involve including the Oceanana Fishing Pier in that evening's work, I simply couldn't resist. These piers used to be more numerous along the North Carolina cost but are quickly disappearing from the beaches. As such I tend to take a shot or two whenever the opportunity presents its self to document these wonderful structures.
In this color photograph we see the long, wooden fishing pier extending out into the ocean from the upper left hand corner. The use of a long shutter speed resulted in a smooth, silky look to the ocean. Dominate colors include blues, pinks and violets.
About Bob Decker
I've always been a bit of an adventurer as well as being fascinated by the art and craft of photography. As a boy my folk hero was Daniel Boone. When on family camping trips I'd often go hiking where I'd allow my young imagination to run crazy with images of being an early colonial explorer blazing the way into the unknown wilderness. As an adult my activities have included hiking, kayaking, spelunking, wreck and cave diving and other adventurous outdoor experiences. I always feel drawn to see what lies down that old dirt road, hides behind the next hill, or awaits further down the river. It's been said I suffer severely from the Star Trek syndrome: "To boldly go..." My photography is simply an extension of my thirst for knowledge, desire...
