Artist's Description

The limbs of an old oak tree twist and turn from its sturdy but bent trunk. I found this tree along the backroads of Pamlico County, North Carolina on an unseasonably warm early March day. I felt lite this tree had a lot of character, putting one in mind of the trees imagined in stories, cartoons and movies of enchanted forests.

I've always been a bit of an adventurer as well as being fascinated by the art and craft of photography. As a boy my folk hero was Daniel Boone. When on family camping trips I'd often go hiking where I'd allow my young imagination to run crazy with images of being an early colonial explorer blazing the way into the unknown wilderness. As an adult my activities have included hiking, kayaking, spelunking, wreck and cave diving and other adventurous outdoor experiences. I always feel drawn to see what lies down that old dirt road, hides behind the next hill, or awaits further down the river. It's been said I suffer severely from the Star Trek syndrome: "To boldly go..." My photography is simply an extension of my thirst for knowledge, desire...
