Artist's Description
Viewing off into the woods from the Latham-Whitehurst nature trail near New Bern North Carolina the mature birch tree trunks stand out against the brown shades of fallen leaves. This color photograph was made in Mid-January in this picturesque Craven county nature park. Well maintained hiking paths meander through this lovely coastal woodlands. One trail leads to a wooden boardwalk and overlook of Broad Creek.
About Bob Decker
I've always been a bit of an adventurer as well as being fascinated by the art and craft of photography. As a boy my folk hero was Daniel Boone. When on family camping trips I'd often go hiking where I'd allow my young imagination to run crazy with images of being an early colonial explorer blazing the way into the unknown wilderness. As an adult my activities have included hiking, kayaking, spelunking, wreck and cave diving and other adventurous outdoor experiences. I always feel drawn to see what lies down that old dirt road, hides behind the next hill, or awaits further down the river. It's been said I suffer severely from the Star Trek syndrome: "To boldly go..." My photography is simply an extension of my thirst for knowledge, desire...
