A metal sided tobacco barn stands in Pamlico County North Carolina. These structures were used to dry tobacco after harvesting. Once a major agricultural product of the South, with reduced tobacco use due to health concerns, Southern farmers had moved to growing other plants and these structures are disappearing from the landscape.

I've always been a bit of an adventurer as well as being fascinated by the art and craft of photography. As a boy my folk hero was Daniel Boone. When on family camping trips I'd often go hiking where I'd allow my young imagination to run crazy with images of being an early colonial explorer blazing the way into the unknown wilderness. As an adult my activities have included hiking, kayaking, spelunking, wreck and cave diving and other adventurous outdoor experiences. I always feel drawn to see what lies down that old dirt road, hides behind the next hill, or awaits further down the river.
