Description
The wind and waves form interesting patterns in the sand along the beach at Fort Macon State Park, Atlantic Beach, North Carolina. The coarse sand and shadows provide texture to this black and white fine art photograph.
Fort Macon State Park sits at the end of a barrier island named Bogue Banks. The beach borders the western side of the natural inlet. The brick and sod structure provided an important coastal defense during the War of 1812, the Civil War and was even used during World War II. The first state park opened to the public in North Carolina it is also the most visited according to many yearly statistics.
