Description
Island Creek wids through the Croatan National Forest. Next to it a hiking trail by the same name follows its path through the deciduous trees. Further upstream limestone outcroppings line the stream. The coastal plain of North Carolina is dominated by pine forests, making this portion of the Croatan unique to the area. The trailhead is located between New Bern and Pollocksville, NC in Jones county.
