Description
The beaches of the Southeastern United States can be a harsh environment. Trees that prosper and grow to mighty and majestic entities in less difficult environments, are stunted, growing into natural sculptures reminciant of Bonzai trees. This black and white image was made at one fo the more remote beaches of the North Carolina Crystal Coast.
Access to this nearly pristine beach is found next to the Cedar Island Ferry Terminal in eastern Carteret County. With several miles of undeveloped beach and small islands, the area is home to a small herd of wild horses, Mustangs of Spanish Colonial descent. There is also a herd of wild, or mor accurately feral cows living in the area. When exploring the dunes and shore of this area one has the feeling of visiint someplace exotic, unexplored and wild.
