Description
A Laughing Gull glides through the sky above the Neuse River in eastern North Carolina. The golden light of the setting sun bathes the black and white bird as it follows the Ferry traveling between Minnesott Beach and Cherry Branch.
Considered pests by coastal locals, tourists always seem delighted to see these birds. Their distinguished call souns as if they are laughing, a trait resulting in their name. This common seagull is found along the Atantic coast of North and South America as well as in the Caribbean. A bold scavenger, these omnivores will often take handouts from the hands of smiling tourists.
