The rock jetty at Fort Macon State Park is bathed in golden sunlight as sunset approaches. The park is located on Bogue Banks in the community of Atlantic Beach North Carolina. This color photo shows the boulders reaching out into the waters of Beaufort Inlet with a view of the Atlantic Ocean outside of the inlet. A long exposure photographic technique was used to smooth the water and waves.
I've always been a bit of an adventurer as well as being fascinated by the art and craft of photography. As a boy my folk hero was Daniel Boone. When on family camping trips I'd often go hiking where I'd allow my young imagination to run crazy with images of being an early colonial explorer blazing the way into the unknown wilderness. As an adult my activities have included hiking, kayaking, spelunking, wreck and cave diving and other adventurous outdoor experiences. I always feel drawn to see what lies down that old dirt road, hides behind the next hill, or awaits further down the river. It's been said I suffer severely from the Star Trek syndrome: "To boldly go..." My photography is simply an extension of my thirst for knowledge, desire...
