This. scene put me in mind of an enchanted or haunted forest. The Live Oak trees seemingly reaching out to embrace a passerby.. There is a hint of mystery. Does the trail lead to a witches cottage? Perhaps to a location where mysterious rituals are held!
In reality this is a view of the Elliot Couse Trail in Fort Macon State Park, Atlantic Beach, North Carolina. The park does offer a haunted trail hike in October, as well as hayrides and other traditional Halloween activities. As the trail pass by, or perhaps even over and old graveyard long lost to the shifting sands and vegetation, maybe, just maybe there is a ghost or two haunting the trail!
I've always been a bit of an adventurer as well as being fascinated by the art and craft of photography. As a boy my folk hero was Daniel Boone. When on family camping trips I'd often go hiking where I'd allow my young imagination to run crazy with images of being an early colonial explorer blazing the way into the unknown wilderness. As an adult my activities have included hiking, kayaking, spelunking, wreck and cave diving and other adventurous outdoor experiences. I always feel drawn to see what lies down that old dirt road, hides behind the next hill, or awaits further down the river. It's been said I suffer severely from the Star Trek syndrome: "To boldly go..." My photography is simply an extension of my thirst for knowledge, desire...
