An old house sits in ruins along a country road near Reelsboro North Carolina. A busted, collapsing handicap ramp leads to the front door. Siding, windows and doors are missing from this rustic structure. One cannot help but wonder what happened to those that once lived here. Was it a veteran, a wounded warrior? Did a family live here or a single individual? Where did they go? Why was the building allowed to reach this state of decay?
I've always been a bit of an adventurer as well as being fascinated by the art and craft of photography. As a boy my folk hero was Daniel Boone. When on family camping trips I'd often go hiking where I'd allow my young imagination to run crazy with images of being an early colonial explorer blazing the way into the unknown wilderness. As an adult my activities have included hiking, kayaking, spelunking, wreck and cave diving and other adventurous outdoor experiences. I always feel drawn to see what lies down that old dirt road, hides behind the next hill, or awaits further down the river. It's been said I suffer severely from the Star Trek syndrome: "To boldly go..." My photography is simply an extension of my thirst for knowledge, desire...
