Emerald Isle Woods Park offers a number of easy to moderate hiking trails. These wooded pathways lead through the maritime forest, over some small streams and past some smallish ponds. The park, located in the town who's name it bears, is a popular spot for dog walkers, joggers and nature lovers.
This popular beach town is located on a barrier island named Bogue Banks. The village is at the western end of the Crystal Coast.
I've always been a bit of an adventurer as well as being fascinated by the art and craft of photography. As a boy my folk hero was Daniel Boone. When on family camping trips I'd often go hiking where I'd allow my young imagination to run crazy with images of being an early colonial explorer blazing the way into the unknown wilderness. As an adult my activities have included hiking, kayaking, spelunking, wreck and cave diving and other adventurous outdoor experiences. I always feel drawn to see what lies down that old dirt road, hides behind the next hill, or awaits further down the river. It's been said I suffer severely from the Star Trek syndrome: "To boldly go..." My photography is simply an extension of my thirst for knowledge, desire...
