A line of sand dunes stretches towards the Bogue Inlet at the Point in Emerald Isle, North Carolina as the sun sets on a warm June evening.
Located at the end of Bogue Banks, one of the barrier islands making up the Crystal Coast, this area features a large area of sand and dunes. It is a beautiful area and home to nesting shorebirds in the Spring and early Summer. This location is popular with sun worshipers, bird watchers and fishermen.
I've always been a bit of an adventurer as well as being fascinated by the art and craft of photography. As a boy my folk hero was Daniel Boone. When on family camping trips I'd often go hiking where I'd allow my young imagination to run crazy with images of being an early colonial explorer blazing the way into the unknown wilderness. As an adult my activities have included hiking, kayaking, spelunking, wreck and cave diving and other adventurous outdoor experiences. I always feel drawn to see what lies down that old dirt road, hides behind the next hill, or awaits further down the river. It's been said I suffer severely from the Star Trek syndrome: "To boldly go..." My photography is simply an extension of my thirst for knowledge, desire...
