Built in 1812, this historic home was built by Dr. James Lente Manney. The Doctor relocated to Beaufort, North Carolina from Poughkeepsie, New York. He served as the town physician until his death in the late 1800s. A classic Federal-style home, it had two stories and double front porches. Over time several additions were made to the home. The house is located on Craven Street in the historic district of Beaufort.

When on family camping trips I'd often go hiking where I'd allow my young imagination to run crazy with images of being an early colonial explorer blazing the way into the unknown wilderness. As an adult my activities have included hiking, kayaking, spelunking, wreck and cave diving and other adventurous outdoor experiences. I always feel drawn to see what lies down that old dirt road, hides behind the next hill, or awaits further down the river. It's been said I suffer severely from the Star Trek syndrome: "To boldly go..." My photography is simply an extension of my thirst for knowledge, desire...
