A smallish dead tree dominates the foreground. In the distance mountains are seen draped in a smoky mist. This is the view from the Grassy Ridge Mine Overlook along the Blue Ridge Parkway. While the autumn foliage is beautiful a black and white treatment adds drama and mystery to this photograph.
